District Auditions are an opportunity for students of KRMTA members to receive points for pieces that they play for a judge and for music theory testing. Those who excel here may move on to State Auditions. District Auditions is also known as Spring Auditions, and is held annually each spring.

Sponsored by KRMTA, the Chopin Competition (also known as Margaret Schmitt Memorial Piano Competition) features young people competing for monetary prizes with music by the well known Romantic composer Frederic Chopin. This competition is biannual.
Scale Olympics requires students to perform from categories of Scales, Arpeggios and Chord Progressions, which are the building blocks of most musical styles. Many levels are represented, with cumulative skills for students to build upon annually. This event is held each November.
This competition is sponsored by our organization biannually in January and features music of rotating musical time periods. Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary music are the time periods featured.
